Where are the best free fun splash parks in regional Victoria? Here are the ones that I have visited, from Metung to Ballarat and beyond. With municipal pools fast disappearing, the town splash pad is
fast becoming the new summertime town square for kids, and unlike the local pool, there's no entry fee. This list only includes the ones that I have personally visited, and will be expanded if I visit more.
Great for cooling down if you live locally, or on a day trip from elsewhere with the kids.

Ballarat - Midlands Aquatic Playspace
This Ballarat splash park includes water features that are loosely garden themed, such as a sprinkling leaf, a squirting ladybird and a butterfly shower. It is concrete under
foot, so bring the band-aids and if you can, avoid windy days for your visit here…
Ballarat - Sebastopol Aquatic Playspace
This water play area south of the Ballarat city centre includes colourful spray hoops, tipping buckets and various sprinklers in a suburban park. It has a fence to stop runaways
and is slightly more sheltered from the wind, but just as entertaining as Midlands…
Benalla Splash Park
Quite a large splash park with a variety of fountains, sprinklers, water cannons and a tipping bucket, with an adjoining dry (sic) playground
and a couple of rockclimbing structures. The local aquatic centre is located next door if you want the full range of water play experiences on offer
in the town…
Bright Splash Park
This free splash park fits neatly within the riverside park to breathe new life into this already great open space in Bright, alongside
the Ovens River and Morses Creek. It has several sprinklers, geizers, spraying hoops and a giant tipping bucket…
Marysville - Gallipoli Park
This park and playground has various hand operated water features within the park itself, plus the shallow, pebbled stream of crystal clear, cold water in the Steavenson River
that you can rest or frolic in directly behind the water features…
Metung - Patterson Park
This park incorporates a splash pad that is flanked by two artificial meandering streams, all
bordered by a long, curved wooden deck on one side and a lawn on the other. This little park packs a lot in and integrates
well into the surrounding laid back village atmosphere…
Tocumwal Splashpark
Technically just over the border, behind the levee bank on the Tocumwal Foreshore of the River Murray, this splash park draws its inspiration from the
role of the Tocumwal Aerodrome, which was purpose-built as an air base during World War II. Expect plenty of water bombs from
the plane overhead…
Wangaratta - Mitchell Ave Splash Park
A multi-level splash park that includes two fortified hills with water cannons, each with sub-terranean tunnels that have their own underground sprinklers, plus a bunch of
other water features including a ferocious tipping bucket. The splash park is fully fenced, with an adjacent basketball court and dry playground…
Yarrawonga Foreshore Splash Pad
Alongside Lake Mulwala, this free little splash pad has a vertical sprinkler ring and a range of gurglers and water jets. It's only small, but
can form part of a day enjoying a picnic on the foreshore, a swim in the lakeside pool or a few runs down the giant waterslide…
Before you head out, make sure to read the water safety information. Splash parks can sometimes be out of action for maintenance, or closed
seasonally. Check the details for each splash park on this website and with the managing authority for each site to confirm before you head out, especially if you are
travelling a long distance to any given park.
