The lake pool on the New South Wales side of Lake Mulwala is similar in concept to many sea baths, but using the fresh water
of the River Murray instead. This Olympic sized (50 metre) pool provides a safer place to swim than out in the lake (which is full of submerged
tree stumps) and also allows you to do lap swimming.

The lake is on a floodplain, so although it is very wide, it is quite
shallow. The pool is similarly shallow at around a metre deep. The pool has a hand rail that runs around three sides and
is concrete lined on the bottom.
On the New South Wales (Mulwala) side of the lake, the lake pool is located on the aptly named Pool Ave, which runs off Inglis St,
just off Melbourne St. Apart from swimming in the pool, there is plenty to do along the lake foreshore here.
There is a wide lawn with picnic
tables, a giant waterslide and a kids playground. The water slide operator also offers a range of lake activities including canoe hire, tube rides,
inflatable banana rides and water skiing. You can even hire a barbecue pontoon!

After your swim, the local pub is only a few steps away on the
corner of Inglis and Melbourne Streets to restore those lost carbs from your swim.
For anyone coming from Victoria, there is also an almost identical lake pool on the Victorian (Yarrawonga) side on Bank Street.
There are a number of small beaches scattered around the edge of Lake Mulwala, but swimming at these can be difficult because
of the many submerged tree stumps close to shore. If you want to swim in the lake itself, there is an annual Splash and Dash in
March each year, when you can swim a 1.4km course across the border.

Comments:
Here is one dedicated swimmer's comment on swimming in the Mulwala Lake Pool:
"An outside shower (warm) is a must for us daily swimmers. I use the lake pool all year round when visiting family. If a group started up
that would be great to meet and swim as a group - the Mulwala Icebergers"
- Bazz, Melbourne, Victoria 23/6/2021
