The closest beach to town in Tocumwal, but also one of the longest, with rustic camping facilities at the back of the beach. Whilst only basic,
the shower and toilet facilities, and the short distance to town, make this the most popular beach along this stretch of the river. RVs are welcome.

Town Beach is located around 800 metres upstream of the Tocumwal town centre. The beach here is several hundred metres long
and around 30 metres wide, with a gentle slope and soft sand entry into the water.
The whole town could turn out and still not be able to take up all of the sand with their towels, that is how big it is. When they all
do turn out on a hot day, this beach becomes a hive of activity.

The current in the River Murray is very strong and people regularly drown in it. For even experienced swimmers,
this river commands respect.
Town Beach is no exception, particularly when heading out further into the river, or when the
river is running high, as it often is in early and mid-summer. Inexperienced swimmers can still splash around in the shallows close to shore,
where the current is ever present, but more of a gentle push as it runs peacefully around your shins than the force that wants to bowl you over
further out.
Diagonally across the river you can see one of the other 24 beaches around Tocumwal glistening in the sun
(it is actually
Finley Beach, beckoning you to explore further upstream and downstream after your day
out at Town Beach.
